Companies House is an Executive Agency of The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. The Minister responsible for Companies House is Gareth Thomas MP, Parliamentary under Secretary of State for Trade and Consumer Affairs. The agency also has Trading Fund status which allows the agency to directly manage its own finances. The Chief Executive is responsible to the Secretary of State for the day to day running of the agency. Companies House has a Board of Directors and a Steering Board made up of senior BERR personnel and independent members from the private sector and supported by Companies House Directors. The Steering Board meets quarterly to provide advice on the governance of the agency, in particular its corporate plan, targets and performance. Its composition reflects our aim of drawing on best practice from the public and private sectors. |
