A new homepage for Companies House We changed the design of our website homepage on Sunday 11 March. As well as improving the general look and feel of the website, we have improved the navigation so users can find what they are looking for quickly and easily. A new header has been added to the top with navigation tabs to the most visited areas; and these tabs will remain throughout the website. A significant proportion of traffic to our website goes to our WebCHeck and WebFiling services to file information and search company data, so these are now also placed more prominently on the homepage for easier access. Although the homepage design has changed significantly, the content of all other pages remains unchanged. However, to ensure the website retains a consistent look and feel, you will see the new styling for the header and footer has been added to the content pages. Our online services such as WebCHeck, WebFiling and Companies House Direct will not be changing at this time. We have carried out research into what our customers want and tested the new designs with real users. The feedback received has been valuable in shaping the final design that was launched on 11th March. If you are interested in giving feedback on future changes to our online services, please think about becoming part of our user panel. It shouldn't take long to familiarise yourself with the new website homepage, however, if you can't find what you're looking for straight away try using the Search tool. Some questions and answers about the new website: What has changed on the website? We have changed the design of the homepage and the styling of the header and footer on the rest of the site. The changes are cosmetic and do not effect the underlying architecture. We have improved the access to our WebFiling and WebCHeck services and have improved navigation to other sections of the website by using tabs that are now consistent throughout the website. All of the content behind the homepage remains the same. Why have you changed the website? The Companies House website has remained static for some years. In order to respond to customer feedback and to continue to give our customers the best online experience when filing or searching information we needed to improve the homepage design and navigation. This is only a cosmetic change and does not affect the underlying architecture of the site. The ultimate aim is to have a new single government website, with a consistent look and feel for all government departments; the designs for this are currently being tested on GOV.UK/government. Have you changed any of your web addresses? Will my bookmarks still work? We have not changed any of our web addresses, the changes to the website are purely cosmetic. Therefore, any bookmarks you have to pages on our website will continue to work. Are you planning any future changes to the website? There are no other major changes planned for the website. However, the ultimate aim is to have a new single government website, with a consistent look and feel for all government departments; the designs for this are currently being tested on GOV.UK/government. We always invite suggestions from our customers. Go to our Contact Us page or drop us an email to enquiries@companieshouse.gov.uk . I can no longer find a certain section – how can I find it? The vast majority of items on the old homepage are also accessible from the new homepage, but you may need to familiarise yourself with the new navigation tabs at the top of the screen to get to the sections. If you still cannot find what you’re looking for, then you can use the search facility. Did you warn customers that the homepage was changing? Yes, we made an announcement of our intended change and it's launch date, on our previous homepage on 27 February. This included a preview image of the new design. |
