Companies House Twitter Policy

The @CompaniesHouse Twitter account is managed by the Companies House Press Team on behalf of colleagues across the organisation. We do not use any automation to post content on Twitter, such as tools that generate tweets from RSS feeds. If you follow us, you can generally expect no more than 10 tweets a day at this time, usually less, covering the following:

  • alerts about new content on our other digital channels (news, publications, opening social media channels, publicity campaigns, etc)
  • invitations to provide feedback or feedback on specific issues on which we are consulting
  • information about service provision and/or downtime
  • occasional live coverage of events

Twitter does not and will not replace our other, more extensive contact processes, which customers are also advised to follow should they wish to raise detailed issues.

Following

We do not automatically follow back new followers. Due to resources, we infrequently review our follower list. Being followed back does not imply endorsement of any kind.

Availability

We will update and monitor our Twitter account during office hours, Monday to Friday. Twitter may occasionally be unavailable and Companies House accepts no responsibility for lack of service due to Twitter downtime.

@Replies and Direct Messages

We welcome feedback and ideas from all our followers and endeavour to join the conversation where possible. However, we are not able to reply individually to all the messages we receive via Twitter. The Companies House Press Team reads all @replies and Direct Messages and ensures that any emerging themes or helpful suggestions are passed to the relevant people in Companies House. We cannot engage on issues of party politics or answer questions which break the rules of our general comments policy.

The usual ways of contacting Companies House for official correspondence are detailed in the contact us section of our website. The Press Team can be accessed through our existing customer contact number and details which are as follows:

Companies House Press Desk can receive e-mail contacts 24/7 press@companieshouse.gov.ukbut our core office hours for staff to respond are 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, excluding Public Holidays. We can generally be more effective in answering your queries via e-mail and we invite you to contact us so that you have a clear record of what we are saying. If you contact us out of core hours, we will make every effort to respond as soon as possible thereafter.

Access to the Press Desk via telephone will initially be through our Contact Centre who will ask you for your details and about the basic nature of your call.
