Electronic Filing Software Service Update - June 2012The Companies House XML Software Filing Service offers a means of transferring company accounts data electronically, providing a more efficient and faster method of filing for both presenter and Companies House. Accounts information is electronically formatted based on the XBRL (extensible Business Reporting Language) and iXBRL (Inline XBRL) standards. These common standards enable all accounts data to be examined, stored, and exchanged with other systems. Since summer 2010, Companies House has adopted the UK GAAP 2009-09-01 taxonomy which covers the main reporting requirements for ordinary commercial and industrial companies under GAAP in the UK, including the primary financial statements and notes. HMRC have also adopted the UKGAAP-2009 taxonomy (and inline XBRL) as the basis for their CT600/Accounts project - this alignment is part of the broader commitment to provide a more cost-effective joined - up government filing strategy. All the information required by Companies House is included in the iXBRL accounts submitted to HMRC. However, where a company qualifies, they can still choose to submit abbreviated iXBRL accounts to Companies House created as a subset of the data prepared for HMRC As Companies House is receiving more and more enquiries regarding the ability to file accounts from software packages, we have updated our Software Filing pages with links to package provider sites, to enable customers to see at a glance those who can offer submissions via our Software Filing Service.
